(If you are looking for pictures of the twins check back tomorrow for the funniest Wordful Wednesday EVER….)
Have you ever had one of those weekends when you think “this isn’t really happening to me?” I had one this weekend…On Friday I was at a friend’s MomTV show and got to talk to a really cool Amigurumi designer and decided to purchase a few of her designs from her etsy shop – Amy Gaines Etsy. So I purchased a purse package and one with a duck plus I got the cupcake pattern for free! But I soon remembered that I had no yarn to make any of these items and I was bummed when I received the patterns – so on Sunday night I went to the fabric store to get fabric for the twins Halloween costumes and picked up a few skeins of yarn…four hours later this is what I had:
Talk about cute! Cupcake purses! While I cannot sell them on Etsy — I can sell them everywhere else! So I am going to make a few more and sell them at some local craft fairs! I am also going to make the bear purses! If you want one e-mail me (my e-mail address is on the side of the blog at the top)!!!
Then on Saturday night we had been gone all day and I had managed to sleep in the car on the way home…so at 10 p.m. I was all wide awake and talking on Skype with Fiona and Cheryl while catching up on Dr. Phil episodes on TV. As I watched him tell everyone about his twitter account I decided that I wanted to follow him…and went to his twitter to follow him and noticed that his wife, Robin has a twitter account. I love Dr. Phil but I LOVE Robin (I still remember begging for her book one Christmas and when I didn’t get it Aaron went out and bought it for me!). Anyone who really knows me knows that I am always quoting Dr. Phil and that I do not have a qualm telling it like it is. Anyway I decided to follow Robin and left it at that. As I was talking to my friends I got this tweet:
Robin_McGraw@cahaning i love reading your blog! your twins are adorable!10:25 PM Sep 19th
I thought I had won the lottery – it is only by the grace of God I didn’t wake up anyone in the house! Then I realized that she could be a ghost tweeter and I didn’t really respond….until I saw her and Dr. Phil answering a question on the streets of New York about separating twins in school and I remembered that she is also a twin – she has a twin brother! I then tweeted to her about being a twin, expecting nothing in return but then I got this:
Robin_McGraw yes! I have a twin brother!! and my daughter-in-law is a triplet
@cahaning
Holy cr*p I thought…really this is not happening so I mention this to my friends on Skype, really just Cheryl and Fiona but still anyway. We start to talk if it is really Robin or a ghost tweeter. Well Fiona is a ghost tweeter and so she said to ask…I couldn’t bring myself to ask so I just told Robin McGraw that I do a MomTV show about multiples and I plan to mention some famous multiples at my show on Monday. She tweeted this back:
Robin_McGraw@cahaning i love that!!12:04 AM Sep 20th
Ok I had to do it as we were having a full on discussion if this was really Robin or not on Skype! So I asked and said either way ghost tweeter or Robin McGraw in the flesh she had made my night (and that is no joke ask Cheryl or Fiona). I also asked about Women of Faith (because well come on you all remember what my dream job is — writer and speaker for Women of Faith). SO I get my final tweet of the night from Robin (ok not really on a first name basis with her but oh how I so would like to be):
Robin_McGraw@cahaning yes it really is me
i promise..i hope to do WOF again in the future..
I screamed — out loud and once again was impressed I didn’t wake anyone up! I wanted to run upstairs and tell Aaron right then and there but I didn’t it was late but now I was WIDE awake! Later I learned that Robin McGraw was following MY tweets — really little old me!!! If I didn’t already LOVE her I would now…but I am not sure I could LOVE her more and talk about down to earth! This is as close as I have got to someone I really look up to…I told Aaron in the morning and while I had to explain what Twitter was before he got the whole story he was happy for me!
Anyway fast forward to tonight….my MomTV show is on and well since we had taken dinner to Aaron’s grandma and the twins were over the top, I was not able to do my hair or write up my usual outline for the show – in retrospect a BIG mistake. So not my best show, anyway the show gets over and I get this tweet:
Robin_McGraw @cahaning hi!! i saw your show tonight!! you are so sweet to mention me!
I screamed again! You could have knocked me over with a feather! After that there was a somewhat heated discussion about if I asked her to come on and do a segment with me, would she! At this point if I asked and she said yes I think I would just about die…really I would love to talk to her about how to make it as a stay at home mom and have your own identity, what it takes to write a book, and what it really feels like to speak for Women of Faith as well as talk to her about growing up as a twin (what was it like, what was her favorite part, what was the worst part, how did her family handle their birthdays, and so much more) BUT if she watched the show tonight I am sure that she would NOT want to appear on the show (really this was my worst episode in over a month). But if she never tweets me again and unfollows me, she has made my year – celebrities are not supposed to be this nice and even though I always thought that not only Dr. Phil but she as well seemed so down to earth, I never thought that I would be talking to her on twitter!
So this weekend I learned to NEVER underestimate myself and to always be prepared – you never know who may tweet you when you least expect it! Should I ever hear from her again, I think I will ask her if she will do a segment on my show (the worst she could say is no right) and I think I will also ask some of my other questions. But only if I hear from her, I am sure that she gets bothered enough on twitter or even with e-mail for me to add to it unnecessarily! I may be a no one compared to her BUT she made my weekend and my Monday, so thank you very much Robin McGraw!!!

Awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed my interview w/ Amy – she’s an amazing talent indeed!
That is so cool about Robin McGraw – one just never knows when one will rub elbows w/ someone famous! Congrats!!
Hi, Carissa! I really enjoy reading your blog, even though I don’t have multiples! Sometimes I feel as if I do, since my youngest two are one year apart!
Very cool about Robin! That’s so neat that she follows you and responds! She’s such a neat lady!
