Hey Carissa! I’m crazy behind, just because my life is crazy, but I’m catching up the best that I can. Mattix had and still has language delays. I had him eval’d several times by early intervention b/c I felt like he wasn’t quite on track, but I never realized how off track he was. . Now that I have a more typical child as far as speech goes (and actually one that is really ahead), I realize exactly how far behind he was (and still is to some extent). I always focused on him and his progress in all areas as compared to where he was when he came home and celebrated the successes, no matter how little and how “atypical.”

As you might recall, he was ten months when he came home, but NOBODY talked to him at ALL for the first ten months of his life, and any interaction he had was horrible. His doctor has always told me to give him time and it would come…it is. It’s getting so much better. He’ll be three in three months and IMO, he’s not a typical three year old as far as speech goes, but he’s light years ahead of where he was.

It WILL happen with LM and LP. You’re an awesome mom and they do love you, even if they can’t say it yet.
